Today's topic for the Girl Chat link up is "A Time You Were Lucky," so naturally the title of this post seemed fitting for multiple reasons. While I don't believe in luck necessarily, I love a good theme! As I stated above, I don't believe in luck. After racking my brain for a perfect story to go with this theme, I could only recall only one time that could be deemed lucky. Back in the day J would drag me to this HORRID bar when I was home from college. This bar was close to his house and saw many walks of life. You could smoke inside the bar so that stench was absorbed into your skin and stayed with you for at least two showers, but we were friends with the bartenders and when I turned twenty-one I discovered that they made some pretty strong drinks.
One night when I was home from school, J suggested I play Keno! in an attempt to entertain me while he participating in a poker game. With a carefree attitude, I agreed and watched for a few rounds. Eventually, I left to hop on over to the store to pick up something. That is not a typo - FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS! Isn't it typical that you win big the first time you play? That's how it sucks you in for more. Bigfoot enthusiast TriDiver on youtube takes a closer look at a piece of footage from Todd Standing. Check it out:. The Rev. Larry Beane, in the pages of this web log, once
wrote something which bears repeating and reflection. Just what does the
liturgical innovation, instability, even chaos, which prevails in so many ways
in Christ's Church today, do to our children? Fr. Beane wrote, in part:
"Of course, it does have implications for future generations, as younger
people no longer have the image of the hoary-headed patriarchs and matriarchs,
fonts of wisdom, and examples of dignified Christian piety. It's no wonder the
children and grandchildren of these folks have rejected the faith all together
or are so rudderless as to be groping around aimlessly in the 'emerging
movement' desperately seeking 'authenticity. '"
His words seized my attention, for they drew my thoughts from the particular

problem of bizarre worship forms en vogue among radical feminist Catholics to

the more general problem of what liturgical innovation can do to our children,

both now and down the road, and conversely, to the benefits of traditional and

stable liturgy for our children. Experts in child development have repeatedly warned of the harm that
instability can cause to a child, and of the benefits of that which is stable
and reliable in a child's life. This includes challenging things like
vocabulary and music, as well as rubrics and good manners. Children think they like a lot of television, video games, and web surfing, yet
we now know that their brains do not flourish in an environment in which they
are bombarded with a heavy diet of electronic sensory images. Michael Gurian and Kathy Stevens, for example, in their book, The Minds of
Boys, report the following disturbing data on p. Now they nest just a

I have been to two different escape rooms this year, and they are SO much fun! What are they you ask? They are interactive adventure games where typically participants are locked in a room, and they must work together to solve fun and challenging puzzles before time runs out. I wanted to create an escape room in my own home for the monthly dinner this month.

This is a daunting task to write it all yourself, but lucky for me, Juliana & Ariel came to the rescue! These two ladies are the co-creators of a new table top game, Escape Room In A Box. You will see that werewolf aspects, science/medical tools, locks, and chains were incorporated into much of my decor and food. Invite: My guests encountered an initial puzzle when they first received their invitation. At this point, they did not know the theme or anything yet.

I just included this for fun with the intention of making the puzzle pretty easy to decipher. The Brontës and Hester Chapone
Guest Post by Samantha Ellis

Despite best efforts, no one really knows exactly what the Brontës read, and you can tie yourself in knots trying to find out. So when I started writing Take Courage, my book about Anne Brontë, I knew I had to read it too. Some of Chapone's readers found her fusty and dull—but worthy. Quick, quick!—Fling Peregrine Pickle under the toilet—throw Roderick Random into the closet—put The Innocent Adultery into The Whole Duty of Man—thrust Lord Aimworth under the sofa—cram Ovid behind the bolster—there—put The Man of Feeling into your pocket" and, finally, with all the naughty books squirrelled away, sighs "now lay Mrs Chapone in sight". Yet Chapone had her fans.

Mary Wollstonecraft eviscerates conduct books in A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, but admits that "Mrs Chapone's Letters are written with such good sense, and unaffected humility, and contain so many useful observations, that I only mention them to pay the worthy writer this tribute of respect. .
